Does Anyone Know Anything About A Torn Rotator Cuff?! Help?

I had to go tot he emergency room yesterday and the doctor took x-rays because he thought my shoulder might be dislocated but it wasnt. He ran a couple other tests and he said my rotator cuff might be torn. I play football at a private university and ive been stressing out about my season. I have to get an mri soon but can you guys let me know about your thoughts. My shoulder hurts but i can extend upward and around with very little pain. Its my trap muscle that really really hurts so i am not sure what it might be. Any thoughts?!
