Rotator Cuff Exercises – Lying Dumbbell External Rotation
AskTheTrainer.com Personal Trainer Michael Behnken, MS, CSCS External rotation is performed by the infraspinatus and teres minor of your rotator cuff as well as your posterior deltoids. Always perform rotator cuff motions under complete control and full range of motion. Higher reps are usually superior to heavy weights while you strengthen your rotator cuff. Make sure you have a good reason to perform any rotator cuff exercises. AskTheTrainer.com

How Can I Help A Strained Rotator Cuff To Heal?
I am currently in rehearsals for a show at an amusement park and I think I’ve strained both of my rotator cuffs. We had two 8-hour dance rehearsals on Saturday and Sunday, and there are a bunch of overhead motions in the choreography. Fortunately we have vocal rehearsal for the next few days so I can rest and take it easy. I have had pain in both sides (deltoids and triceps especially) since Saturday evening. I have tried ibuprofen and naproxen sodium for pain but neither seem to help much. I still have full range of motion in both shoulders (lifting arms above head or straight out to the sides) and I have been able to sleep normally at night, so I don’t think either one is torn. Unfortunately my insurance with my parents ended last month and I have only very basic medical coverage and I can’t afford to see a doctor at the moment.
Any suggestions?

Do I Have A Torn Rotator Cuff???
I have had pain inside my shoulder where the joint is (Around where the anterior and medial deltoids meet the acromioclavicular joint) for about two weeks and its not getting better. If I were to describe the pain I would describe it as a kinda sharp but not too sharp. Whenever I do anything that involves my shoulder it hurts slightly and feels just a bit weaker, not too much (When I don’t move my arm it doesn’t hurt). The pain is not too bad but it bothers me and it hurts most (still not too much) when I lift my arms above my head. The movement in my shoulder joint does not feel as fluid as my other shoulder. I am still lifting weights, just not shoulder involving exercises, and practicing kung-fu, with pain. I’m not sure what I have done to my shoulder, I can’t really remember how I hurt it either but I do remember hurting it. I was thinking tendonitis or very slight tear on the rotator cuff or just nothing at all. Not sure which one. Please Help!!!
